Summer Project #3: Sketching

To develop my work further I am now going to explore sketching my fridge magnets. To start off with I researched a couple of illustrators who mainly focus on line drawings.

Research

Nina Chakrabarti

These sketches are for the Japanese skin care brand Albion. This picture still has a sketchy feel to it even though it is a final design for a skin care brand making it feel more natural. Her style makes her illustrations two dimensional using dots and lines to create texture. I will try and incorporate this into my own design.

Ryn Frank

I looked at Ryn Frank because she also sketched man made forms such as the cheese packaging (above). It was good to look at a line illustrator who doesn't just illustrate natural forms. I was able to get an idea on how she simplified each design.
