I had the idea to incorporate layering in my book by making a smaller page every other page. The page would just cover the 'artwork' (my lines of where I walked). However there would be holes punched through to uncover the dots of where I started and where I finished. I thought this could be an interesting way to show the colours underneath.

I used a hole cutter to make the small hole in my page this was a quick and easy way to created the holes however it means I have to be careful when lining up the holes becuase otherwise it can cut out of the dotted line of the holes. I used a protracter with a blade on the end to create a bigger hole this was more tricky to make right becuase the paper would stretch while cutting meaning the circle would not join. To get around it I had to lightly score where the line of the circle is and then cut into order for the hole to line up. The layering worked well the holes were in line and uncovered my lines underneath.

To help me remember what I did in my first book binding workshop I read the book ‘Making Books’. The bindings that interested me was the simple pamphlet bind and the stab binding. The simple bind becuase I like how the binding makes it seem like a note book which could be something I could use when creating my data vis book becuase the data could just been seen as ‘notes on my day’. However the stab binding is also a good idea pratically it would mean I would not be limited when deciding where I want one colour to go compared to another.

I realised that doing a pamphlet bind would not work after I created my mock up on paper. Due to wanting different coloured pages in different orders with a pamphlet bind it would limit me on being able to do that. So when I had cut and printed everything out I experimented with the stab binding which worked well I liked that the bind was obvious and it meant I could use the colour of my thread to help add to my artwork.
