The Design Process

Many different people go about the design process in different ways. However, there is one thing any designer can agree on, is that the process has to happen and that no successful out come will ever not have a whole wealth of research, mess, failures and developments come before it.

Double Diamond Design Process

Chris Vanstone's double diamond model of the design process creates a simple view on how he sees the process. However, in class I found out. through discussing with my classmates, the design process for many is much more complicated because in order to full explore an idea you have to explore not from one but many different angles.

"Don't accept that there's only one way of doing something there's at least three. Come at a problem from an unexpected angle, turn a weakness into a strength"

- Anthony Burrill, Make It Now! (2017), Pg 100

This shows everyone's processes layered on top of each other

In the class we had to map out our own design processes in anyway we wanted. It was a good exercise to show that everyone was different in their approach to design.
