Working in the studio we were asked to photograph our disused objects that we bought in the charity shop. I partnered up with Laura to take photos of her object and Angel statue while she directed me and vice versa. Laura took photos of my object a wooden teddy bear while I directed. In this workshop we had a focus on getting used to the camera while experimenting with composition, subject to camera distance, viewpoint, depth of field, forces and arrangement. We placed the objects on a colourful backgrounds and added labels with different copy. All these factors helped us change the way a viewer reads the photo.

At the end of the day I researched some of the artists that were given in the brief as means of understanding. I researched Peter Watkins , Jessica Eaton, Diana Scherer and Pawel Bownik. All, were photographs of still life from front on view angle, however they all explored still life in a different way. Jessica Eaton explored how the differences in colour can change the tone and view of the image and contrary to Eaton, Peter Watkins photographed his still life with no colour putting emphasis on the changes in tone due to lighting. Diana Scherer and Pawel Bownik both took photos of plants however they are still different. Diana explored the whole plant by exposing the roots and soil but still keeping the shape of the pot it seems to trick the viewer into thinking it is just an image of a plant, but on closer inspection the plant is completely naked, changing the way viewers see the still life. Pawel takes a different approach he disassembles the plants and puts them back together once again making to viewer look closer and see the still life differently. All these artist helped me to try and create a twist on the ordinary still life.
